Tips and Tricks With Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo messenger is one of the most popular internet chat clients. Since it also works with MSN it can be the only messaging chat client that you ever need.

How do you remove the ads in Yahoo Messenger?

You can’t. The service is provided for free and Yahoo makes a profit from the ads. You can’t use that client and not see the ads. If you hate ads, there are many third party chat clients that you can use instead. Something like Pidgin will let you use your Yahoo chat account but it does not have any ads. Some of these third party clients don’t have all the same features like photo share or drag and drop file sharing.

How fast does the internet need to be for Yahoo Messenger?

Dial up can work for Yahoo Messenger. At times the ads switching can cause the connection to lag a bit. If that is the case try using a different chat client that doesn’t have to download pictures every few minutes which can tax a dial up connection.

How do you remove Yahoo Messenger?

To remove this program or any program, it’s normally best in Windows to go to the Control Panel then to Add/Remove Programs. A list of programs will come up. Select Yahoo Messenger and choose to uninstall it from the system.

How do you delete your Yahoo account?

If you are done with your Yahoo account completely and never want to access it again, search Yahoo for the Account Termination page. This will make you log in and verify if you want to get rid of this account forever. Once done you can’t go back.

Lets Switch to Google Talk

Google Talk ReviewGoogle Talk, Google’s IM Client is another excellent option to go with, as an alternative to WLM. It has many advantages over WLM like

* It is a very “light” weight messenger client costing only 1.63MB approx. In fact one of the most light weight messenger clients ever!
* It has a very simple, simple to use interface.
* Takes less internet bandwith – in other words, you can browse the web quicker if you use Gtalk rather than WLM. ( It mostly matters if you have a slow connection)
So “Google Talk” in my opinion is a fantastic messenger client and is awesome when the size is seen. There are of course some drawbacks in this as well. There is no Video Calling feature in this, But Google has a Video Chat Plug In . Which keeps it up.

Don’t Shoot The Yahoo! Instant Messenger

Most anyone whose kids have become teenagers over the last few years has almost certainly at least heard of “IM”. It’s become a verb among not only teens, but many adult surfers too. As in “IM me later!”. For anyone who doesn’t know, IM, or Instant Messaging, is software that lets people communicate over the Internet, well, instantly. Or nearly so – with only slight delays most of the time, instant messaging has always allowed users to type messages back and forth over the Internet. It’s a lot like passing a note in class, with new parts of a conversation added on to the end of previous parts. Yahoo Messenger was one of the first to offer both IM software and a lane on the information superhighway for IM messages to travel.

But as the kids have grown, so has Yahoo Messenger. It’s a lot more than a mere teen toy now. Yahoo, in an effort to attract and retain loyalty to it’s brand, offers email, a personalized My Yahoo Portal, an address book, calendar, maps, bookmarks, a toolbar, and other services, many of them integrated to work together. But they seem to have paid special attention to Yahoo Messenger, especially recently. As more surfers have moved to high-speed internet connections, Yahoo has upgraded Yahoo Messenger to include Launchcast Radio, Yahoo Games, and of course, a considerable selection of customization options.

Perhaps the biggest change, and one many adult surfers will most appreciate, is the addition of Webcam, photo, and voice chat capabilities. Voice chat, in particular, will probably appeal to a broad audience. With it, a pair of speakers, and a microphone, you can talk live with contacts, over the Internet, even internationally, for free, using voice over IP technology. Most of the time, depending on network traffic between you and the other party, the conversation is loud & clear, and there is very little delay.

You may have wondered why your teens would prefer to type messages when they can just as easily call their friends. Now, with Yahoo Messenger, they, and you, can do both, using the same software!

What is a difference between Windows Messenger and Windows Live Messenger?

Microsoft Windows is the most popular operating system used by millions of users across the world. The ability to establish network connection between any two computers via internet demands the need for instant messaging system. Using instant messaging system, you can send short or long messages to any person you wish as long as they are connected to the common network. The demand for instant communication increases everyday when more and more computers get connected to each other. To satisfy the needs of users that wish to communicate instantly, Microsoft introduced the Windows messenger and the Windows live messenger. Though both the messengers are named similarly, they have significant differences in their features.

Windows Live messenger

The Windows live messenger is the latest version of the instant messaging client from Microsoft. Just like other messenger services like Yahoo messenger, AOL messenger, you can now chat with your friends using the Windows live messenger. To enable communication between two users, they have to stay online. You can sign in into the windows live messenger with your hotmail account. Any computer which runs on windows XP or above can download and install live messengers and start chatting without any restrictions of any sort. Video chatting has also been enabled in the latest live messenger. This live messenger is termed as the improvised version of the MSN messenger, which provides chatting services. New features like video chat, file sharing services are provided with the windows live messenger. The download is available for free and you can enjoy all new features immediately after you download and install the latest messenger.

Windows Messenger

The Windows messenger comes along with the Windows XP. If you have the XP operating system, you can find windows messenger in your computer after you finish operating the system installation. This can be found only with the windows XP and if you have older versions of the Windows operating system, you cannot expect this utility. This messenger differs from live messenger by various features. Application integration is achieved with the use of windows messenger. All the Microsoft applications such as outlook, exchange, remote assistance are integrated with the windows messenger. Using windows messenger, you can connect to the communications service as well as with Microsoft instant messaging. These services enable instant messaging within a network. You need to have a communications service account to access this messenger. Windows messenger comes with windows XP to enable instant communication within a corporate network without the need to connect to the internet. Using this messenger, you can chat and talk to your friends, who also have their own communications service account.

Do you need both messengers?

You can use the windows messenger as well as the windows live messenger at the same time, if you connect to the internet via a corporate network. However, the windows messenger is of limited use, with the introduction of the windows live messenger. Once you have windows live messenger in your computer, you can chat with any of your friends, who have a hotmail account. Microsoft has announced that it is working on integrating the windows live messenger with the yahoo messenger, enabling hotmail as well as yahoo users to communicate with each other.
